Purpose

Dads are an essential part of a child’s mental, emotional, and physical well being. According to Reading Rockets, dads play a critical role in their children's literacy development ' by modeling reading, sharing stories, exploring the world together, and engaging in meaningful conversations that build critical thinking and language skills. Additionally, there are many additional benefits to reading such as having the likelihood of scoring better on state and national standardized tests. While the summer reading program is meant to foster a reading connection between the dad and children, all can participate.
